American rapper Travis Scott released in Paris without charge

The American star was held in police custody in Paris for thirty-six hours on suspicion of violence.

Travis Scott, one of the biggest stars of American rap, was released on Saturday August 10 without charge after thirty-six hours in police custody in Paris on suspicion of violence, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced to AFP. The prosecutor’s office confirmed“Travis Scott’s police custody lifted today (SATURDAY) as well as the classification of the procedure, the offence being insufficiently characterised”.

Early Friday morning, police had “were called to the Georges V hotel and (had) arrested the so-called Travis Scott for violence against a security guard. The latter had himself intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard”the public prosecutor reported on Friday. In this investigation entrusted to the 1st judicial police district, the rapper was placed in police custody on Friday morning, a measure which was lifted on Saturday at midday.

“We are in direct contact with the local Parisian authorities in order to resolve this situation quickly,” the artist’s representative had indicated in a message to AFP on Friday evening. The star had published a video on Instagram on Thursday evening showing him at Bercy, where the basketball events of the Paris Olympic Games are being held.
