This Friday, August 9, the French Olympic football team faces Spain in the final of the Olympic tournament, after the basketball and handball teams qualified for the final this Thursday. A title for the Bleuets would be the first since the Los Angeles Games in 1954 and the second in the history of the Games. The Bleuets volleyball team also faces Poland this Friday afternoon.

Making her debut in the first-ever breakdance competition in the history of the Games, Manizha Talash, aka B-Girl Talash, represents the Refugee Olympic Team. Born in Afghanistan, she began dancing in her home country, where she was the only woman in her club, before fleeing the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.

Do French citizens pay for the care that athletes can receive in the Olympic Village? It is not social security that pays for consultations carried out in the village polyclinic, but the Games organizing committee, in accordance with the Olympic charter. This care is not financed by the same funds as everyday care in France, however the Games organizing committee is financed, in part, by public money.
