Athletes to watch on Friday

Here is the list of Canadian athletes who will take part in the competitions on Friday.

ATHLETICS
1:37 p.m. — Women’s Shot Put Final
Canada, a nation of Olympic throws? After gold in the men’s and women’s hammer throw, it will be Sarah Mitton’s turn to try to bring home a medal in the shot put.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL 4:30 p.m. — Women’s Final
What an exceptional story that is that of Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson in beach volleyball. Against all odds, here they are playing the grand final in the Parisian night against the Brazilians Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa.

TRACK CYCLING
From 8 a.m. — Women’s sprint events
12:09 p.m. — Women’s Madison Final
Canadians Kelsey Mitchell and Lauriane Genest could have a long day with the various qualifying phases of the women’s sprint event. Then, Maggie Coles-Lyster and Ariane Bonhomme will represent the country in the Madison final. What is the Madison? It is a relay event for teams of two riders. The cyclists take turns regularly by launching each other into the race. They score points by sprinting or gaining extra laps.

CANOE-KAYAK SPRINT
4:30 a.m. — Women’s C2 500m semi-final (final at 6:40 a.m.)
4:50 a.m. — Women’s K2 500m semi-final (final at 7 a.m.)
5:10 a.m. — Men’s K2 500m semi-final (final at 7:20 a.m.)
5:30 a.m. — Men’s C1 1000m semi-final (final at 7:40 a.m.)
Another busy day for the Canadians at the Stade nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne. Katie Vincent and Sloan MacKenzie (C2 500m), Courtney Stott and Natalie Davison (K2 500m), Pierre-Luc Poulin and Simon McTavish (photo) (K2 500m) and Connor Fitzpatrick (C1 1000m) will all be in action.

ARTISTIC SWIMMING
1:30 p.m. — Technical duo program
Quebecers Jacqueline Simoneau and Audrey Lamothe will dive into the pool for their duet technical program, with the hope of leaving their mark on these Games.

DIVE
4:00 a.m. — Men’s 10m Platform Qualifications
Canadians Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray teamed up to win bronze in the 10m platform. They will now face off in qualifying for a spot in the semifinals on Saturday.
