Île d’Orléans | Maglacerie, the new frozen treat from Chez Mag

To those who like to claim that summer is over as soon as August rolls around, we say: not at all!

The best weeks of the summer season are still ahead of us. Whether you’re on the road to vacation or just out of town for a weekend, a stop at Île d’Orléans is always a good idea.

Between the supplies at the various market gardener kiosks, the discoveries of wines, ciders and other alcohols made from small fruits, there is the very popular “fine canteen” Chez Mag, to sustain yourself with a huge lobster poutine, a lobster roll or a gourmet hamburger – not forgetting the fries, which come from potatoes from an island producer.

This family business, run by three brothers, has the wind in its sails, with the opening of a third branch in Baie-Saint-Paul (there is also one in La Pocatière) and a brand new canteen, larger and more up-to-date, on their site on the island.

Not to mention the latest addition, Maglacerie, located in a pretty adjacent cabin on the same property in the village of Sainte-Famille. We chose to stand out by offering not ice cream, but ice cream bars (without preservatives) made from berries – many of which come from the surrounding area – that can be coated in melted chocolate. To finish your meal in style!
