“Vice President Harris and former President Trump have both confirmed they will participate in the ABC debate.”the television network said on Thursday, August 8. Donald Trump has offered to debate Democratic candidate Kamala Harris three times in September during a rare press conference held in Florida from his Mar-a-Lago residence. “We have agreed with [la chaîne de télévision] Fox on September 4, with NBC (…) on September 10 and with ABC on September 25”he said, before his campaign team clarified that he had been mistaken and was talking about ABC regarding the September 10 date.

But the 78-year-old businessman spent much of his press conference vehemently denying “enthusiasm” caused by the entry into the race of Kamala Harris, who has been holding several meetings since Tuesday with her brand new running mate Tim Walz. “Oh, stop it! I had 107,000 people in New Jersey (…) How many did she have yesterday? [dans le Wisconsin]? 2,000 people (…) I recently had 25,000 people in Michigan”retorted Donald Trump.

In front of the press, Donald Trump also promised a “peaceful handover” of power if the November presidential election is “honest”while his Democratic rivals worry that he will not recognize it. “Of course there will be a peaceful handover [du pouvoir]as was the case last time. (…) I just hope we have honest elections.”replied the former White House tenant, without mentioning the storming of the Capitol by his supporters on January 6, 2021.
