The Hôtel des Invalides will be remembered as one of the most beautiful Olympic sites, where two historic medals were won by the French. Paris 2024 will also be remembered for Cupid’s arrows, which hit the two champions. Lisa Barbelin and Thomas Chirault are a couple of Olympic medalists, with bronze for one and silver for the other in archery. With each medal, it’s as if they were two to win it, they confide.
Other medal-winning couples give the French an emotional rollercoaster during the Games. Among them, fencer Boladé Apithy showed his love for his partner, Manon Apithy-Brunet, when she won the gold medal in fencing. BMX Racing bronze medalist Romain Mahieu also found love with an Australian cyclist. At the end of the 3,000m steeplechase, Alice Finot got down on one knee in front of her future husband to ask for his hand in marriage. Paris will remain the city of the Games, but it will always be the city of lovers.
