Canadian Maude Charron won silver in the 59 kilogram weightlifting event on Thursday at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 31-year-old Rimouski native thus adds a second Olympic medal to her collection. She won gold in Tokyo in 2021 in the 64 kg category, a category that was eliminated from the Olympic program.
Maude Charron successfully lifted 106 kg in the snatch and 130 kg in the clean and jerk for a total load of 236 kg.
China’s Shifang Luo triumphed with a total lift of 241 kg, an Olympic record. Taiwan’s Hsing-Chun Kuo completed the podium with a total lift of 235 kg.
