Three mountain ranges will be closed on Thursday for “very severe fire risk”the Var prefecture said in a press release on Wednesday, August 7. These are the Haut Var, Maures and Sainte-Baume mountain ranges. Access, movement and presence are prohibited on these mountain ranges.

In addition, four other massifs are at severe risk of fire in the department. Access to them is therefore not recommended and work is prohibited except for agricultural, forestry or general interest work from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. These are the following massifs: Monts Toulonnais, Centre-Var, Corniche des Maures and that of the Iles d’Hyères.

In Bouches-du-Rhône, four out of 25 massifs are affected by this very severe risk of forest fires. It is forbidden to travel and hike in the Sainte-Victoire massifs, Gardanne hills, Montaiguet and Regagnas, this Thursday.

According to the forest weather forecast, updated daily at 5 p.m. by Météo France, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Var and Bouches-du-Rhône are at orange risk. “pupil” fire. According to Météo France, this orange risk means that “weather conditions significantly increase the risk of forest and vegetation fires starting and spreading compared to summer norms.
