An investigation was opened Monday, January 10 for “kidnapping” and “sequestration” after suspicion of kidnapping a minor to subject him to conversion therapy, Franceinfo learned on Monday from the Montpellier prosecutor’s office.
This investigation was opened after a report “from the associative world”. According to the Montpellier prosecutor’s office, this minor “would have been taken under duress to a location to be determined in order to undergo conversion therapy”, a pseudo-scientific practice with the controversial goal of attempting to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
“The facts were denounced by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, in charge of citizenship, on the basis of Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure”, adds the floor. This investigation was entrusted to the territorial direction of the judicial police of Montpellier and to the central direction of the judicial police.
