Mehdi Narjissi, player of the French U18 team, missing after swimming in the sea in South Africa

The French Rugby Federation announced on Wednesday the disappearance of Mehdi Narjissi, a player from the U18 team, during a team gathering in South Africa.

Terrible news. The French Rugby Federation announced on Wednesday, August 7, the disappearance of Mehdi Narjissi, a player who is a member of the French U18 team, as part of a trip to South Africa to play the International Series with the selection. The Stade Toulousain player was “carried away by a wave” around 4 p.m. at the Cape of Good Hope, “as he and his teammates were coming out of a swim at the seaside.”

“Rescue teams (boats and helicopters) are currently being mobilised to find Medhi”added the FFR, specifying that a psychological unit had been set up around the team and his family. A player from Stade Toulousain trained in Agen, Narjissi, aged 17, was playing in the International Series, a youth competition organised from 31 July to 21 August in South Africa.
