(Dorval) Traffic increased sharply at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport in the second quarter of 2024. Some 5.6 million people passed through it, an increase of 6.3% compared to the same quarter last year, Aéroports de Montréal announced Wednesday morning.
Cumulatively, the increase is 8.6% for the first two quarters of 2024 compared to 2023, with 10.6 million passengers.
The transborder and international flight sectors saw more pronounced growth in the second quarter, at 12.9 and 12.4% respectively compared to 2023. The number of domestic flight passengers, however, decreased by 0.4%.
Yves Beauchamp, President and CEO of ADM, indicated in a press release that “the ADM teams remain motivated by the same objective, which is to offer a quality welcome and service to our passengers.”
The excess of revenues over expenses before net financial expenses, taxes, depreciation and amortization and share of joint venture results (EBITDA) amounted to 116.3 million, an increase of 11% compared to 104.8 million in the second quarter of 2023.
Consolidated revenues totaled $229.2 million in the second quarter, an increase of $25.6 million, or 12.6%. Operating expenses also increased, by 20.1%, to $77.4 million. ADM’s net debt remained stable at $2.16 billion.
