(New York) Bob Woodward continues his long tradition of releasing a book in an election year with the publication of Warwhich will focus on conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and how they shape American presidential politics.
Simon & Schuster announced Wednesday that the journalist’s new book will be published on October 15.
The publisher calls the book “an intimate and in-depth account of one of the most tumultuous and dangerous periods in presidential politics and American history,” focusing on President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, who is Ms.me Harris in this fall’s election.
“Readers join President Biden and his top advisers in tense conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the ad reads.

“Readers also see Trump leading a shadow presidency and seeking to regain political power.”
According to Simon & Schuster, War also provides “an unvarnished examination of the vice president as she attempts to embrace Biden’s legacy and policies while beginning to chart her own course as a presidential candidate.”
Joe Biden announced just two and a half weeks ago that he would not run for president, leaving Mr. Woodward with relatively little time to update his book. He has turned in a completed manuscript, but is still writing and may still revise. War before it is sent to the printer.
“We have the capacity to react quickly in the event of new developments,” assured a spokesperson for the publisher.
Bob Woodward, 81, first became known for his reporting in the Washington Post about the Watergate scandal in the 1970s, which helped lead to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Since then, he has written more than 20 books, most of which have topped the American bestseller list. New York Timesand has a long history of publishing topical works ahead of national elections.
His notable publications include Plan of Attackpublished in 2004 as President George W. Bush was seeking re-election, and Dangerin 2020, about Donald Trump.
Financial details were not disclosed. Mr. Woodward is represented by Robert Barnett, a Washington lawyer whose clients include former presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
