The Russian Defense Ministry claimed Tuesday, August 6, the conquest of a new village in eastern Ukraine. Moscow thus continues its slow advance on the front against a less well-equipped and less numerous adversary. Russian forces “liberated the village of Tymofiivka”the ministry said in its daily report. The locality is located in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region, which is targeted by the Russian military.

On Tuesday, Russia said it had repelled an attempted incursion by the Ukrainian army into the Kursk border region. Ukraine has not reported fighting on the Russian-Ukrainian border in this area, but the governor of the Ukrainian region of Sumy, which faces Kursk, called on residents in the morning to heed air raid warnings and take shelter.
