The UK has been gripped by anti-migrant riots since a 17-year-old boy of foreign origin attacked a dance school in Southport on 29 July. Three girls were killed. At least two hotels housing asylum seekers have been targeted and 378 people have been arrested.

In the United Kingdom, rioters are arming themselves with whatever they can find. Here, wooden fences, there, barriers thrown at police officers who are trying to block access to a hotel hosting asylum seekers near Manchester, in vain. British law enforcement is overwhelmed by the number of rioters. Face-offs with demonstrators are becoming increasingly tense.

The trigger: a deadly knife attack in which three young girls died on July 29. The suspect: a British man born to Rwandan parents. Since then, calls for violence, particularly against mosques, have multiplied. The police have already made nearly 400 arrests. Faced with the escalation of violence, encouraged and organized on social networks, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has promised a firm response.
