Yael Arad, the president of the Israeli Olympic Committee and IOC member, was the guest on France 2’s “4 Vérités” on Monday, August 5.
Since the start of the Paris Olympics, the Israeli delegation has won six medals, including a title in windsurfing. “These are our best Olympic Games (…) we are extremely proud and we are looking forward to what will happen”comments Yael Arad, the president of the Israeli Olympic Committee and member of the IOC, on the set of “4 Vérités”, Monday, August 5.
As tensions rise in the Middle East, is the Israeli delegation managing to ignore the political context? “I don’t think we can ignore it. Our country has really been suffering since October 7, since that horrible terrorist attack in the south. (…) We still have 115 hostages, and every one of us knows people who are there, people who were killed.”explains the judoka who won an Olympic silver medal. Also, for the Israeli delegation, being at the Paris Olympics is extremely important, even if it is not always easy for the athletes.
