An ever more stunning French team! Les Bleus finally validated their ticket for the semi-finals of the Olympic competition by dominating Germany, Monday August 5, at the Arena Paris Sud. But it was tough! Trailing two sets to zero in this quarter-final – after a ghostly first set in particular -, they fought to win in five sets (18-25, 26-28, 25-20, 25-21,15-13).

A first set completely missed, a second set more solid which was still won by the Germans thanks to a great success in service… It was only with their backs to the wall that the Blues managed to reverse the trend of this match. During the third set, Benjamin Toniutti, Earvin Ngapeth and their teammates managed to alternate better in attack and to make the German block falter.

Buoyed by a still very enthusiastic crowd, the French team confirmed its dominance in the last two rounds, despite the tenacious Germans. It will try to be less afraid in its next meeting, Wednesday August 7 against Italy, the reigning world champion team. A place in the final is at stake.
