(Paris) American sprinter Noah Lyles was crowned Olympic champion in the 100m on Sunday evening in 9.79 seconds, separated by a thousandth of a second by Jamaican Kishane Thompson (9.79), while the other American Fred Kerley completed the podium (9.81).
This is the first gold medal for the United States in the main event of the Olympics since 2004 and Justin Gatlin’s victory.
