Marseille rapper Naps, already suspected in a rape case in 2021, was indicted on Sunday August 4 for “rape and sexual assault” after complaints from three young adults in the Var, announced the Toulon prosecutor’s office. Arrested on Friday in a hotel in the seaside resort of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, the author of the hit “La Kiffance” was placed under judicial supervision and denies the facts with which he is accused, said Laurent Robert, the deputy prosecutor.
The case began with a complaint, filed on October 1, 2021. “A young woman explained that she had spent the previous evening in an establishment in the 9th arrondissement” from the capital, then “having been invited with friends to the table of the rapper Naps”the public prosecutor detailed on Wednesday. “They then followed him to his room in a hotel near the Gare de Lyon, which the rapper’s friends gradually left.”the prosecution reported. “The young women had fallen asleep and one said she was woken up by sexual intercourse to which she had not consented.”the prosecution continued.
The investigation has been entrusted to the La Valette-du-Var Research Brigade and will continue on the basis of a rogatory commission from the investigating judge. Nabil Boukhobza, his real name, is already suspected of having raped a young woman in her sleep in the fall of 2021. In this case, the investigating judge ordered, in a decision handed down in mid-May and of which AFP became aware at the end of July, that the rapper be tried before the departmental criminal court of Paris.
The 32-year-old rapper, who has a large following on social media with a million subscribers to his Instagram account, “fully contest” And “with the greatest firmness” the accusations brought against him in this first case, his lawyer Nabil Boudi assured AFP at the time. He appealed the order of the investigating magistrate requesting a trial.
