3×3 Basketball | Canadians advance to semi-finals

(Paris) Canada will play for an Olympic medal in the women’s 3×3 basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics on Saturday with a 21-10 victory over Australia in a playoff game.

Kacie Bosch had a team-high nine points for Canada, which finished the preliminary tournament with a 4-3 record and placed fourth.

Australia – who finished fifth in the round robin – got five points from Anneli Maley.

The Canadians jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and never trailed, even when Bosch was sidelined with an elbow to the face that required treatment.

Germany, Spain and the United States have also secured their tickets to the medal round, scheduled for Monday.

This is the first time Canada has participated in the 3×3 basketball tournament, which was introduced at the Olympic Games for the first time in Tokyo three years ago.
