Quebecer Charles Leblanc recalled by the Los Angeles Angels

(Anaheim) Quebecer Charles Leblanc was recalled by the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.

The 28-year-old will take Luis Rengifo’s place in the lineup, who was placed on injured reserve for the second time this season with inflammation in his right wrist.

Rengifo missed 15 games last month because of wrist issues. He was third in the majors with a .315 batting average when he went on the disabled list July 4. He went 6 for 32 after returning and saw his average drop to .300.

At the AAA level this season, with the Salt Lake Bees, Leblanc had a .262 average with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs.

He has not played a major league baseball game since 2022, with the Miami Marlins.
