After a black Saturday on the roads of France, Bison futé anticipates traffic to remain heavy on Sunday

Motorists had to be patient during this day of traffic jams that was classified as black across the country. More than 1,000 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams were recorded at midday, announced Bison futé on Saturday, August 3. The peak on a national scale was reached at 12:20 p.m. with 1,054.2 km of traffic jams, equivalent to the distance between Brest and Strasbourg, according to data from the forecaster’s website.

In the provinces, the maximum volume of traffic jams was reached around 12:15 p.m. with a cumulative 1,039 km, Bison futé stated in a press release. For the Ile-de-France region, the maximum volume of traffic jams was reached around 1 p.m., with a cumulative 63 km. Finally, on the Mediterranean arc, the peak was reached around noon, with a cumulative 283 km. The main difficulties were on the A7 (161 km), A9 (134 km), A10 (87 km), A75 (59 km) and A20 (39 km) roads.

Bison futé had warned that traffic would be very heavy throughout the weekend. This Saturday was classified as black in the direction of departures and orange in the direction of returns. On the Mediterranean arc and in Ile-de-France, it was classified as red in the direction of returns. On Sunday, traffic will remain red in Ile-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, but will return to normal everywhere else in the direction of departures.

In the return direction, travel will remain difficult throughout the territory, particularly in the Ile-de-France region, which remains red. Monday is classified as orange in both directions, red along the Mediterranean for departures. Recalling that 185 kilometers of roads around Paris are reserved for vehicles accredited for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Bison futé also advises vacationers to avoid crossing the Paris region.
