Aerosmith will not resume its farewell tour. “We have made the heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision as a band of brothers to step away from the stage.” The legendary American rock band announced on Friday, August 2, that they were retiring due to the vocal injury of their singer Steven Tyler.

“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months working tirelessly to regain the voice he had before his injury,” explains Aerosmith in an emotional message published on their website and social networks. “We have seen him struggle despite having the best medical team by his side. Unfortunately, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”

It was in September 2023 that Tyler first revealed that his vocal cords were suffering, recalls Billboard. “I am heartbroken to say that I have been given strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” the singer explained at the time. “I suffered a vocal cord injury during the concert on Saturday, which caused a hemorrhage”he added.

The specialist magazine notes that the rock group is definitively ending its farewell tour. Peace out three months after announcing the new and final dates. The group was due to perform again from September.

Aerosmith is legendary. And Steven Tyler is a showman like we rarely see, if at all, even now,” highlighted in 2017 Ben Barbaud, the director of Hellfest, which hosted the American group’s last concert in France.

The moment is full of nostalgia and is perceptible both in the reactions of music lovers and in the farewells of a group that wrote more than 50 years of rock history, selling more than 100 million albums worldwide. “It was in 1970 that a spark of inspiration gave birth to Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army [l’armée bleue, le surnom des fans du groupe], That spark has been ignited and burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and it is because of all of you that we have made rock ‘n’ roll history.”

The band members have repeatedly expressed their immense gratitude to their fans, “THE “best” of planet Earth. “We’ve been honored to have our music be a part of yours. In every club, on every major tour, and in grand and private moments, you’ve given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.s. We are grateful beyond words to everyone who was motivated to hit the road with us one last time.”

Singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton formed the band that would settle in Boston in the late 70s. They were joined by Joey Kramer, their drummer who came up with the name of the musical group. The band was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
