Another golden day for France? The day after Teddy Riner’s historic individual victory, the judoka is back on the mats on Saturday, August 2. The Blues, Olympic team title holders, are aiming for gold in the mixed event in order to bring a second title and a tenth medal to French judo. Follow our live coverage.

The program of the day. Busy day, with many medals hoped for. The mixed judo event starts in the morning, while the men’s cycling road race starts at 11 a.m. Julian Alaphilippe wants to create a surprise. Also to watch: the women’s team sabre, with Manon Apithy-Brunet and Sara Balzer (1 p.m.), but also the floor final in gymnastics with Simone Biles (4:20 p.m.) or those of the women’s 100 m (9:20 p.m.) and the mixed 4×400 m relay (8:55 p.m.) in athletics. Team sports to follow. The French handball players face Spain (11am) and aim for first place in the group. The French women’s football team challenges Brazil in the quarter-finals (9pm). For its part, “Team USA” led by LeBron James faces Puerto Rico (5:15pm) in basketball.

A legendary Friday. Teddy Riner and Léon Marchand made French sporting history by winning gold. Both won their fourth Olympic title, while Les Bleus won nEuf medals in one day, unseen since Atlanta (1996). The French duo of Charline Picon and Sarah Steyaert won bronze in sailing, as did the show jumping riders, swimmer Florent Manaudou in the 50m freestyle, and judoka Romane Dicko (+78kg). In the evening, the French won a historic hat-trick in the BMX final.
