There are some outings that we want to forget. This one will probably be one of them. In the semi-finals of the Olympic tennis tournament, Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime was defeated in two identical sets of 6-1 by Carlos Alcaraz.
FAA will be able to try to chase away his disappointment in the coming hours. He will try to win the bronze medal alongside Gabriela Dabrowski, in the mixed doubles. The duo will face the Dutch Wesley Koolhof and Demi Schuurs.
Felix Auger-Aliassime will try to win this bronze medal in singles on Saturday. He will face the loser of the other semi-final duel, played between Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti.
Despite this difficult outing, Auger-Aliassime is having a great Olympic tournament. For the first time since February 2022, the Quebecer defeated two members of the top 10 in the same tournament.
He first beat Russian Daniil Medvedev, an opponent he was beating for the first time. The match was sealed in two sets of 6-3 and 7-6.
The next day, he eliminated the Norwegian Casper Ruud. The confrontation was however going to be more tedious, requiring three sets of 6-4, 6-7 and 6-3.
