(Sherbrooke) Police are investigating a suspicious death in Sherbrooke while a second individual lies between life and death in hospital.
It was a call to 911 on Thursday, around 1 p.m., that alerted emergency services to the discovery of two unconscious men inside a residence on Chemin Saint-Roch Nord, in the Rock Forest sector.
“A local resident called 911 to report that two men were unconscious in his home. All emergency services were called to the scene: paramedics and first responders immediately provided assistance to the two victims. They were transported to the hospital,” said Benoit Pellerin, spokesperson for the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS), in an interview.
The identities of the victims have not been released, but it is known that both men are in their fifties. In fact, few details, such as whether there were traces of violence or whether the two men were known to the police, were released by the SPS immediately so as not to harm the ongoing investigation.
“The population does not have to fear for its safety in the area,” Mr. Pellerin stressed.
“The scene is currently protected. A dozen patrol officers are participating in the operation. The criminal investigations division and forensic identification technicians are also deployed on the ground to establish the causes and circumstances of the death,” he said.
The coroner is also participating in the investigation.
As for the owner of the residence, he is one of the people questioned by the police.
“No one has been arrested or questioned at this stage. We are talking about people who have been encountered, who could have a link with the event, but the investigation is beginning,” said the Sherbrooke police spokesperson.
The investigation is continuing.
