Samuel G, the main suspect in Lina’s disappearance in September 2023, was arrested in early January in Sigean (Aude) near Narbonne for refusing a customs check, franceinfo learned on Thursday, August 1 from the Narbonne prosecutor’s office. It was aboard this car that he was driving and reported stolen, a Ford Puma, that the teenager’s DNA was found, a source close to the case told franceinfo.
After being arrested by customs officers, Samuel G. was sentenced by the Narbonne Criminal Court to a 15-month suspended prison sentence, including an obligation to work and undergo treatment. He was also sentenced to a customs fine of €1,500 and a suspension of his driving license, according to the Narbonne prosecutor’s office. Pending his deferred trial, which was held on January 22, he was placed in pretrial detention.
During this period of pre-trial detention, the justice system was awaiting the results of saliva tests that he had undergone during his arrest, the Narbonne prosecutor’s office said. This saliva test “had revealed the presence of cocaine” in Samuel G. The latter committed suicide on July 10, and the search resumed this Thursday morning in the Vosges to try to locate Lina.
