Republican candidate Donald Trump has accused his new rival, Kamala Harris, of being “turned black” for electoral reasons, during an exchange with African-American journalists, Wednesday July 31 in Chicago. “She turned black”the former president said of the vice president. “She was Indian through and through and all of a sudden she changed and became a black person.”he assured the panel. Kamala Harris, born to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, is nevertheless the first black woman of South Asian origin to aim for the presidency.

The fifty-year-old, who defines herself as a “black woman”swept the “lack of respect” Donald Trump waved his hand away, simply assuring that the United States “deserved better” than that, during a meeting in Houston, Texas.

The Republican’s campaign was shaken up by the surprise withdrawal of Democratic President Joe Biden ten days ago. The Republican had placed the health of the 81-year-old president at the heart of his political message by presenting him as a senile old man. But he has inherited a new competitor, against whom he is trying to outline new arguments. “It’s weird, two weeks ago I was talking about Biden, I didn’t even know her name”he said at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Wednesday night, before accusing Harris of speaking with a fake southern accent, another allusion to her racial identity. “We have to be politically correct… but hey, who cares!”he added.
