Young prodigies enchant the 44th edition of the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival

An unmissable event for the world’s best pianists, the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival launches the careers of these very young stars from all over the world. Under the banner of diversity, the 44th edition of the Nuits du piano is on display until August 20.

Since its creation in 1981, the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival offers outdoor musical afternoons and evenings in an exceptional setting. This year again, for its 44th edition, the Festival is focusing on musical diversity, between young contemporary talents and world-renowned stars. This year’s program is marked by the presence of very young performers.

The opportunity for the public to discover the most remarkable young musicians at the dawn of their careers. Among them, Rémi Geniet, performs alone on stage the Noble and sentimental waltzes by Ravel.The DNA of this festival is the discovery of young artists. This is what makes this festival world-renowned. All the great artists who have a great career have played first at La Roque d’Anthéron”, explains René Martin, artistic director of the festival.

On July 24, the festival audience was able to discover a prodigious 15-year-old pianist years only ! Born in 2009 into a family of Georgian musicians, Tsotne Zedginidze is considered by the greatest – Daniel Barenboim, Jörg Widmann, Simon Rattle, Grigory Sokolov – as one of the most gifted musicians of this century. He has also been composing since the age of 6, premiering his works at the most important festivals.

Following the performance in July of Alexander Malofeev, a concert pianist and very precocious soloist of the Russian school, and the consecration of the Japanese prodigy Masaya Kamei for the first time on the stage of La Roque d’Anthéron, dOther musicians, all in their twenties, are scheduled to perform until August 20.

Among them, on the evening of July 31, accompanied by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and under the direction of Lionel Bringuier, Alexander Malofeev will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor, Opus 23. At just 23 years old, Gabriel Durliat, also considered one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation, will play Mozart, Fauré and Schubert on August 5. The Japanese Mao Fujita, who began studying piano at the age of 3, is also one of the guests to be discovered on the evening of Sunday, August 11.
