The French football player has acquired 80% of the shares in the Normandy club via his company Interconnected Ventures, Stade Malherbe announced on Tuesday.

The striker and captain of the French football team Kylian Mbappé, via the company Interconnected Ventures, has become the majority shareholder of Stade Malherbe de Caen, announced Wednesday July 31, the Ligue 2 club and his company in a press release, confirming information from Radio France. The new Real Madrid player, who almost signed up at Caen when he was younger, becomes the majority shareholder of the French club with 80%, in place of the American investment fund Oaktree.
Pierre-Antoine Capton, current chairman of the supervisory board, remains a minority shareholder (20%), the press release said. At 25, Kylian Mbappé becomes one of the youngest owners of a professional football club in Europe, through the investment entity Coalition Capital of his company Interconnected Ventures.
The parties are now committed to following the validation process with the competent authorities, in particular before the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) of the LFP, according to the press release. Ziad Hammoud, a close friend of the player and former director of strategy at beIN Media Group, has taken over as president of the club. For several months, he has become the general director of Mbappé’s image company, Interconnected Ventures.
