No final four for the Blues of rugby 7s, eliminated in the quarter-finals by Canada.
No double for the French rugby 7s. After the triumph of Antoine Dupont and his teammates from the men’s team, the French women were stopped by Canada (14-19) in the quarter-finals, Monday July 29, at the Stade de France. In a match contested from start to finish, the French women led 14-7 with three minutes left in the match, thanks to a first try by Iän Jason, and a second from Yolaine Yengo just after the restart.
More enterprising at the end of the game, the Canadians scored a second try midway through the second period, then a third, synonymous with victory, with 40 seconds left in the match. Anne-Cecile Ciofani’s teammates, adorned with silver in Tokyo, collapsed while Canada celebrated its qualification for the semifinals, which will be played Tuesday.
