Fantasia reveals its prize list | La Presse

The Fantasia International Film Festival unveiled the winners of its 28th edition on Monday.e editing. The count of Monte Cristoby Mathieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, won the Cheval Noir Award for Best Film. This spectacular adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ novel, starring Pierre Niney in the title role, will be released on August 16.




In addition to winning the jury’s special mention, Electrophiliaby Lucía Puenzo, won the award for best screenplay for Lucía Puenzo and Lorena Ventimiglia, and the award for best performance for Mariana Di Girolamo. Electrophilia will be presented on July 31, at 5 p.m., at the JA de Sève hall.

Anna Starchenko and Berik Aitzhanov also received an award for their outstanding performance in Steppenwolfby Adilkhan Yerzhanov. The film will be presented on August 2, at 3 p.m. Hwang Wook received the Dark Horse for Best Director for Mash City ; and Nicolás Puenzo, the one for the best direction of photography for Ritaby Jayro Bustamante. For his part, Penalty Loopby Shinj Araki, received the award for best editing and the Sandro Forte award for best original music.

Chaired by actor and director Matt Johnson (Blackberry), the Cheval Noir Awards jury consisted of critic Steve Dollar (artistic director of the Tallahassee Film Festival), director Rob Jabbaz (The Sadness), by director Ariane Louis-Seize (Humanist vampire seeks consenting suicide) and actress Kristina Klebe (Halloween, Proxy).

The 28the Fantasia International Film Festival continues until August 4.
