Men’s Basketball | Canada defeats Australia 93-83

(Lille) RJ Barrett had a game-high 24 points as Canada beat Australia 93-83 in the men’s basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, improving its record to 2-0.


Barrett added seven rebounds, five assists and two steals to his tally for Canada, which is in good shape to advance to the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks each contributed 16 points for the Maple Leafs.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Montreal’s Luguentz Dort each had three steals for Canada, which scored 28 points on the 18 steals it threw against the Australians during the game.

Josh Giddey led Australia (1-1) with 19 points.

Canada will face Spain on Friday in the group stage.
