(Quebec) Quebec police have opened an investigation into an incident in which a seriously injured man was found near a burning vehicle on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
According to the Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ), first responders were called around 2:20 a.m. to go to rue de La Pérade, where a vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters located a man who was seriously injured near the burning vehicle. They carried out rescue operations before the man was transported to hospital in a critical condition.
As of Tuesday morning, his life was still in danger, according to medical authorities.
Firefighters subsequently brought the vehicle fire under control. An investigation into the causes of the blaze has been opened by the SPVQ.
A security perimeter has been set up. Investigators from the Serious Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit have been deployed to establish the circumstances of the events.
