Sabotage of high-speed rail lines has had massive consequences for train traffic just hours before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
TGV traffic is severely disrupted this Friday, July 26, throughout France, following a massive and coordinated attack intended to paralyze the network. Several acts of sabotage occurred during the night. A few hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games kicked off, the SNCF did not expect this massive attack on the entire TGV network. The events occurred during the night of Thursday, July 25 to Friday, July 26, on the four French TGV lines.
Fires broke out at four different locations at the same time on the opening day of the Olympic Games, with the opening ceremony. SNCF Réseau teams are on site to carry out diagnostics and begin repairs. But the impact on the TGV network is significant. Until at least 1 p.m. this Friday, no trains are arriving or departing from the main Parisian TGV stations.
