“Harmonics”, Joe Goddard | Le Devoir

After twenty-two years with the brilliant disco-pop collective Hot Chip and two solo albums, British singer-songwriter Joe Goddard seems to still have everything to prove on Harmonics. In any case, having to prove that he is also a composer-producer of electronic music, this third album can be listened to like a mixtape of disparate grooves on which friends come to sing, and this, from the opening with the melodious and soaring Moments Diea duo with Barrie. The afro-house collective Ibibio Sound Machine then collaborates on robotics Progressbefore Goddard succumbed to the dance-house flamboyance of destinywith the slightly starched voice of London singer Findia (who we will hear again later on the future bass rhythm of When You CallLa Roux style). Eclectic and uneven, Harmonics is a dose of good dancing feelings. We will remember the most daring Miles Awaywith the plaintive voice of the Guinean Falle Nioke, and the sweet Mountainswhich features Alexis Taylor and Al Doyle of Hot Chip.
