American musician Pharrell Williams will carry the Olympic flame in Seine-Saint-Denis

The 51-year-old American star will be among the Olympic flame bearers in Seine-Saint-Denis on Friday.

American musician and stylist Pharrell Williams will carry the Olympic flame on Friday July 25 in Seine-Saint-Denis before it heads to Paris for the opening ceremony, we learned from a source close to the organization.

Multi-award winning artist Pharrell Williams is known in particular for his worldwide dance hits Get Luckyin association with the duo Daft Punk in 2013 and Lucky. In 2023, he was appointed artistic director of men’s collections at Louis Vuitton, the flagship brand of the luxury giant LVMH which is a premium partner of the Paris Olympic Games (26 July-11 august).

The 51-year-old American star years old will be among the Olympic flame bearers in Seine-Saint-Denis, the youngest and poorest department in metropolitan France, north of Paris. The flame, which began its journey in Athens in April, will travel on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 July this popular territory, passing among other places by the basilica of Saint-Denis known for its royal necropolis, before reaching Paris for the opening ceremony.

The flame will be offered in Seine-Saint-Denis on Friday to a bouquet of stars and personalities including the former Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon and the current director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as well as the rapper MC Solaar and actress Laetitia Casta. For the moment, the identity of the last torchbearer remains unknown.
