To deal with forest fires, the use of water bombing helicopters is increasing. They allow for greater responsiveness.
The departmental fire and rescue service has an additional means of fighting forest fires: a water bombing helicopter. This device can reach the top of a fire in a few minutes, provide valuable information to the operations center and treat the flames. In the kind of basket that it winches, it can transport and drop 800 liters of water per rotation and has a range of 2.5 hours.
A mobilization that makes perfect sense. When one or two trucks arrive quickly on the scene, the arrival of reinforcements takes time and the fire can quickly spread. The water bombing helicopter is mobilized to support the efforts on the ground and quickly allows the fire to be contained and controlled.
