Vatican City | Pope Francis on Monday called on the international community to “continue the effort” of vaccination, believing that the pandemic imposes a “reality cure” in the face of the spread of “unfounded information”.
“It is important to continue the effort to immunize the population as much as possible. This requires a multiple commitment at the personal, political level, and of the entire international community “, declared the Sovereign Pontiff on Monday morning during his vows to the diplomatic corps, wishing that” the whole of the world population has equal access to essential medical care and vaccines ”.
“Health care is a moral obligation. Unfortunately, we see more and more that we live in a world of strong ideological contrasts. We often let ourselves be conditioned by the ideology of the moment, often built on unfounded information or on poorly documented facts, ”he added.
“Any ideological affirmation breaks the links of human reason with the objective reality of things. The pandemic, on the contrary, imposes on us precisely a kind of “reality cure” which requires facing the problem and adopting the appropriate solutions to solve it. “
According to the Pope, “vaccines are not magic healing tools, but they certainly represent, in addition to the treatments which must be developed, the most reasonable solution for the prevention of the disease”.
The 85-year-old Argentine pontiff has repeatedly taken a stand in favor of vaccination, calling it an “act of love”.
