Withdrawal of candidacy | Joe Biden to speak on his decision Wednesday evening

(Rehoboth Beach) U.S. President Joe Biden will address the nation from the Oval Office Wednesday night about his decision to drop his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in November.

Mr. Biden wrote on X on Tuesday that he would talk about “what lies ahead” and how he would “finish the job for the American people.” He will speak at 8 p.m.

The president is expected to return to the White House on Tuesday, after isolating at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Mr. Biden was diagnosed with COVID-19 last week.

According to a letter released Tuesday by his doctor, Kevin O’Connor, he now tests negative for the virus and his symptoms have resolved.

Joe Biden has not been seen publicly since July 17, but he called a campaign meeting Monday to address staff and express his support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid to replace him, a day after announcing he was dropping out of the race.
