Xander Schauffele wins British Open

(Troon, Scotland) Xander Schauffele won his second major title of 2024, dominating the Royal Troon Golf Club course for a 6-under 65 on Sunday to win the British Open.

Schauffele thus erased a two-shot deficit in the final round and completed the first American sweep of the PGA majors since 1982.

The San Diego native also won the PGA Championship at Valhalla two months ago, sinking a 6-foot birdie putt on the final hole. This time, Schauffele turned what was shaping up to be a heated contest into a stroll along the ocean.

Schauffele avoided bogeys in windy, cool conditions. He birdied three holes in a four-hole stretch on the back nine and turned a two-shot deficit into a three-shot lead.

The 30-year-old golfer became the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2015 to win two majors in the same year.
