“The minimum wage can be increased”, said Gérald Darmanin, who pleaded in an interview with Sunday newspaper (JDD), Saturday July 20, so as not to “to brush aside with the back of the hand” the debate around this flagship promise of the left in the legislative elections.

“The increase in the minimum wage defended by the left is not a bad debate and we would be wrong to dismiss it out of hand”specifies the Minister of the Interior re-elected deputy in Tourcoing (North) on July 7.

“It would be a significant boost for those who work and deserve it,” adds Gérald Darmanin in this interview posted online Saturday evening. “But we have to do it without killing our businesses: we have to take them on board with us and ask them for their contribution,” he said again without elaborating.

The increase in the minimum wage to 1,600 euros net compared to almost 1,400 today was one of the flagship measures of the New Popular Front’s economic programme during the legislative elections.
