A kayaker in his fifties lost his life after capsizing on the Matawin River near the Zec du Chapeau-de-Paille.
At around 12:15pm on Saturday, emergency services received a call about a person in distress.
The victim, who had been missing for some time, was rescued by other kayakers present at the scene.
The man was then taken to hospital and pronounced dead there that evening. An investigation has been opened to establish the causes and circumstances of this tragic event.
