The various political groups fought over strategic positions in the National Assembly for three days, until Saturday July 20, all in a particularly tense atmosphere.
On July 18, Yaël Braun-Pivet was re-elected president of the National Assembly with 220 votes after three close rounds in a chamber divided into three blocs. She wants to believe that dialogue is possible. “We have to get along, we have to cooperate, we have to be able to seek compromises”she demanded after her re-election. On the NFP or RN side, people denounce a presidency tainted by negotiations with the right.
The last three days at the National Assembly have been marked by many tensions, such as the sequence during which deputies did not shake the hand of the youngest member of the Assembly, who is an elected member of the National Rally. Or ten envelopes too many in the ballot box on July 19 during the first round of elections for the positions of vice-president. The next day, the election of the president of the Finance Committee at the National Assembly took place. It went to Éric Coquerel.
