Three people were arrested in possession of 780 kg of cocaine and 26 kg of cannabis herb in Guadeloupe on the night of Sunday 14 to Monday 15 July, the Fort-de-France interregional specialized jurisdiction (JIRS) said in a press release on Friday 19 July. The seized drugs have a market value of over 25 million euros.
The three people arrested, two from Guadeloupe and one from Dominica, were brought before the Fort-de-France judicial court on Thursday and charged “with offences against the narcotics legislation as part of an organised gang and criminal association”. They were placed in provisional detention.
According to the JIRS, this is the sixth seizure by the gendarmerie since the beginning of the year. In February 2024 in particular, nearly 300 kg of cocaine and 170 kg of cannabis herb were intercepted. Four people were arrested.
