Swiss guide dies in Mont Blanc massif

Around 7am on Thursday, a guide from Switzerland died on the route to the Aiguille d’Argentière. He was hit by a block of granite.

A Swiss guide died in the Mont Blanc massif, hit by a block of granite on the route leading to the Aiguille d’Argentière, France Bleu Pays de Savoie learned on Thursday July 18.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning at an altitude of 3,900 metres, on the Flèche Rousse ridge. Alerted around 7am, rescuers from the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) went to the scene and identified a man in his thirties, originally from Switzerland.

The guide did not survive his injuries. He was accompanied by a client who was taken care of by the PGHM.
