It has become a rallying sign. EIn the United States, Donald Trump’s supporters are increasingly wearing a bandage over their ear as a sign of support for their presidential candidate, who was the target of an assassination attempt on July 13.
The French AFP journalist in Washington was able to see this at the Republican convention in Milwaukee. “More and more Trump activists are putting a fake bandage on their ear, as a sign of solidarity with their candidate”he reports on the social network X. The American media have also echoed this trend.
“Ear bandage could be the new fashion ‘trend’reports CBS News. One of its reporters reporting from the convention in Milwaukee interviewed a Republican delegate from Arizona who made his own ear bandage. “Everyone in the world will soon be wearing this”the man explains, showing the ear bandage he had cobbled together just before arriving.
Other images are circulating on social networks, reporting this phenomenon. “Within 24 hours, I wouldn’t be surprised if the ear patch was being sold as a by-product on newsstands in Milwaukee.”writes in particular the cocorrespondent for the Canadian daily La Presse in the United States, publishing a photo of a man dressed as Uncle Sam and also sporting a bandage on his ear.
Donald Trump is due to deliver a major speech on Thursday at the closing of the Republican convention in Milwaukee, where he is expected to once again sport the famous bandage.
