MLS | 14-year-old Cavan Sullivan becomes youngest player to play in league

(Chester) Not yet 15 years old, Cavan Sullivan became the youngest player to take part in an MLS match on Wednesday.

At 14 years and 293 days old, the midfielder made his debut with the Philadelphia Union in the 85the minute, against the New England Revolution.

Sullivan is about two weeks younger than Freddy Adu was with D.C. United in 2004.

Sullivan’s older brother, Quinn, 20, scored shortly before his younger brother entered the game. His goal made it 5-1 in favor of the Union.

Cavan Sullivan had a few touches of the ball in the final minutes of a one-sided game.

He took a shot on goal (in stoppage time), but Aljaz Ivacic made the save easily.

Philadelphia native Cavan Sullivan joined the Union Academy in 2020.

He made his professional debut in March with Union II in the MLS development league.
