A report commissioned by Emmaüs and the Abbé Pierre Foundation accused him, on Wednesday July 17, of having sexually assaulted at least seven women.

Abbé Pierre embodied the figure of a priest who became an icon and tirelessly defended the homeless. He was caught up, on Wednesday, July 17, by accusations of sexual assault. Seven women implicate him in an internal report for acts that were allegedly committed between the end of the 1970s and 2005. One of them mentions touching her breasts when she was a minor, in the family home where Abbé Pierre was a guest. She also recounts having been the victim of a forced kiss a few years later. “When I was saying goodbye, he stuck his tongue into my mouth in a brutal and totally unexpected way.”the testimony assures. He also allegedly offered to let her lie down on a bed.

In the testimonies, similarities with the priest’s attraction to breasts are highlighted. “He started to grope my left breast, I didn’t react”we can read in the report. Each time, the facts described took place out of sight. Emmaüs commissioned a firm to investigate the priest’s behavior after a report was received in 2023. The Catholic Church assures the victims of its deep compassion. Abbé Pierre died 17 years ago and to this day, none of these facts have been reported to the courts.
