Technological innovation and video game experience are closely linked. The last edition of CES in Las Vegas which ended on Friday January 7 once again showed it. Brice N’Guessan, editorial director of Video Games Magazine tells us about the novelties that caught his attention.
franceinfo: What to retain from this last edition of CES with regard to the players?
Brice N’Guessan: Sony took the opportunity to present its future virtual reality headset: the PlayStation VR2. As a reminder, this technology allows you to immerse yourself in the heart of the games using a headset and glasses. This new version will be lighter, more ergonomic, the screens integrated into the glasses will broadcast even more beautiful images thanks to 4K HDR but above all you will have more sensation with the haptic technology on board both in the controllers and in the headphones.
What is haptic technology? It is the use of more or less intense vibrations to simulate and stimulate your sense of touch. You will be able to feel in the helmet the pulse of your hero which accelerates or to feel objects which brush your head thanks to micro vibrations which will be diffused in all the helmet.
A haptic technology that seems essential in the video games of tomorrow …
After smartphones, game controllers or even our virtual reality headset, it’s the turn of the armchairs. The Singaporean company Razer presented a concept of haptic chair: the Enki Pro HyperSense. The promise ? Sensations throughout the body! 65,000 different vibration levels distributed throughout the seat. The seat is able to move with a force of 1G to tilt the seat according to the action. Razer promises an experience for both video games and movies. No release date for this concept at the moment.
This is not a concept and it calls out just as much, it is the new generation PC from the American CyberPowerPC
As you know, a PC is a screen and a central unit that contains components. Components that heat up that need to be cooled. CyberPowerPC has therefore imagined a central unit, one of the facades of which is made up of 18 removable panels assembled like flower petals which will open and close automatically according to the heat of the computer. The cutscene is awesome you really feel like you are seeing flowers budding open to let air in, or conversely, retracting to close completely.
Mobility is also at the heart of this show and playing the console in the car is what Sony wants to offer in the future?
Indeed, playing the PlayStation 5 using 5G technology, sitting in the back of the car, is one of Sony’s promises with the Vision S-02. And the Vision S-02 is not a technology or an accessory, no, it’s an electric car since Sony’s ambition is to enter this market. For the record, know that Sony was the first to market the famous lithium-ion batteries in 1991.
