Brossard | Police conduct series of drug searches

(Brossard) The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) is conducting a series of searches on Wednesday morning in connection with drug trafficking and the illegal possession of firearms.

Police officers showed up early Wednesday morning at various addresses, including in Brossard. The initial objective of this operation was drug trafficking, but the SPAL emphasizes that this type of search usually leads to the seizure of firearms.

A report on the searches is expected to be provided later on Wednesday. SPAL adds that this type of operation also serves to put pressure on the groups behind drug trafficking.

Last week, the Longueuil police force announced that it had dismantled a cocaine trafficking network by making three arrests.

During this operation, his agents seized more than $235,000 in cash, cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis, a 9 mm caliber weapon, as well as nearly $100,000 in luxury goods such as watches, clothing and high-value shoes.
